A-TRAK BIO
Headlining - Saturday, February 14

“No longer is it a crime to mash a hip-hop acapella into a techno track. In this arena, A-Trak, aka Alain Macklovitch, leads the pack. The 25 year-old Montreal native rides the line between hip-hop and electronic beats in a refreshing hybrid of everything ass-shaking.” (BPM Magazine, issue 86)
Very few DJs can jump from club sets to high-profile festival performances, to Kanye West’s larger-than-life stadium shows with ease. In today’s DJ culture, A-Trak holds a truly unique place. He founded 2007’s most buzzworthy label, Fool’s Gold, with a mission to merge all aspects of club music. Such a fusion was outlined earlier in the year with a mixtape manifesto: Dirty South Dance, which set the tone for Trizzy’s very own production. In a matter of months, his signature remixes were gaining support from the likes of Busy P, DJ AM, Annie Mac, MSTRKRFT and Boys Noize.
Not bad for a kid who many viewed as a 90’s turntablism prodigy. Indeed, Alain’s career began at age 15 when he won the 1997 DMC World Championships and proceeded to take home every other DJ title known to man. He then toured the globe, first alongside Q-Bert’s Invisibl Skratch Piklz and then with Craze and the Allies. In 2004, he was hand-picked by Kanye to be his tour DJ. A near decade of youthful meanderings was captured on his acclaimed DVD Sunglasses Is A Must.
Somewhere along the line, A-Trak also became a streetwear culture icon, collaborating with New Era, Kidrobot, Zoo York and pretty much every designer worth his salt. The last couple of years have seen him headlining tours with Diplo, The Rub, DJ Mehdi and Kavinsky, and of course his older brother’s band Chromeo. Add to that production for Chicago rap sensation Kid Sister and a strong, audible influence on Kanye’s Graduation album.
After years of scratching, accumulating air miles and dressing smart, A-Trak has finally become the man to call to make the kids dance. Ask him and he’ll tell you that this is the moment he’s been waiting for his whole career.
KID SISTER - BIO
Evening kick-off - Saturday, February 14

Kid Sister is Chicago. She makes rap music and works at a children’s clothing store slanging bibs and teething rings. Yes, her hype man J2K of Flosstradamus is her real brother, and yes that does rule. Together they took the Chicago music scene by storm rocking parties and causing all around dancefloor mayhem. This has been followed by tours with Kanye West’s DJ A-Trak. 2006 found Kid Sister rocking various shows from Chicago to Paris, including an appearance at the Pitchfork Music Festival. The media responded favorably, with features on MTV (“My Block”), Pitchfork, i-D Magazine, XLR8R, The New York Times, Billboard and the cover of URB’s “Next 1000” issue, among others.
Building on the strength of this early response, Kid Sister hit the studio and released two singles on the Fool’s Gold label (“Control” and “Pro Nails”). Frequent international touring followed, including an appearance at Coachella, a sold out show at SXSW, and a full US tour with her fellow labelmates. Kanye West also took notice, adding a verse to her “Pro Nails” single (which he released on his “Can’t Tell Me Nothing” mixtape) and appearing in the music video, which will debut late 2007. With her first LP on the way in 2008 featuring A-Trak, Xxxchange of Spank Rock, and others on production duties, Kid Sister is taking this.

Originally a battle DJ, D.R.one linked with producer DJ Grandtheft in Montreal. Realizing they had a creative style of club DJing in common, the duo began throwing fun parties all over the east coast. Eventually they formed the Team Canada DJ Crew in late 2004 and released their all-remix whitelabel debut "Classic Material Volume 1". Team Canada have quickly established themselves as Canada’s top club remixers and party DJs. Blazing some of the hottest clubs worldwide with a unique mix of music, they have made their mark with a four turntable party set. People who have ever been to a Team Canada party, know that you leave having partied hard, cheered hard, and danced to music you never imagined mixed together in the same night.
